Overview: You play the role of some kick-ass westener trying to find revenge for his "father" while at the same time mining for gold, killing bandits, and riding a few horses while he's at it.
Graphics: The graphics in this game are a little above average. I just wish their was a better day to night cycle *it changes when you go to a different region, it doesnt change gradually*. I would say that this game looks a lot like Mercinaries with its bloom lighting effects. But what really brought it down was the animations outside a cutscene. You see something coming from the distance and it looks like the N64 just came back in style. The enviroments looked pretty good but their wasnt a lot of veriety. Their was 2 big cities, a canyon region, grassland region, badland region, and thats it.
7/10
Story: You start out hunting game near the Missouri with your "dad". You go off to get a days pay in a Ferry where it gets raided by bandits. When your "dad" tells you he's not your father and that his life was just so he could get revenge on someone else just before he dies and the ship sinks. You then spend the rest of the game finding out about his pass and about a huge golden cross that a spanish missionary used. When you find out the cross is the key to something.....
8.5/10
Gameplay: This game is probobly the closest you can get to GTA for the Gamecube. Like I said earlier their isnt much veriety in the map of the game and its really tiny. On horse you can go across it in about 5 minutes. The game is still pretty fun though even though it'll take you about 3 days to beat. You can kill either on a horse or on ground. You can use pistols, rifles, bows, knifes, explosives, snipers, cannons, gatlink guns, the works in a western game. But what is pretty cool is the "quickdraw" feature which adds a bullet time effect for a short while. It also locks on to the enemy's and allows you to move quicker. You can buy upgrades for things like these at the local shops. Upgrades increase your bullet time, reload speed, weapon upgrades, and several other stuff. To increase your health you drink whiskey, the west's old medicine . This game is pretty fun but like I said its VERY short. You can earn money by doing stuff like going to poker tournaments, catchin the bad guys, working for the law, and several other random tasks that you would find in a GTA type game.
8/10
Music/voices/audio: The voices in the game are fitting, the character has a low grumbly voice, the apaches have uh....apache voice and the villans sound villinish. Pretty cool. The sounds of the guns are alright and the music is well uh...western. Nothing to extra-ordinary here.
7.5/10
Replay Value: Their really isnt a reason to play again except on a harder difficulty, doing so will get you no extra rewards that you would see in something like Resident Evil. At the end of the game you get some weapons that are so powerfull they get boring quick, unless you are a casual gamer who likes to kill people for the heck of it.
5/10
Multiplayer: NONE, not even split screen.
0/10
Overview: This game is pretty decent. Has some good parts but mainly its pretty bleh. If your looking for a decent GTA type old west game for the gamecube then this one is for you.
7.5/10
rent, buy,or avoid?: I would definetly say rent. This game is real short and you could probobly beat it in less then a week.
pictures coming soon!
