Release: 1968
Director: George Dunning
Writers: The Beatles
Genre: Animation/Fantacy/Musical/Adventure/Comedy
Review:
Overview:Probobly one of my favorite movies of all time, period. This movie goes beyond the limits of "Im Freaking Out"
Animation: I loved the animation in this movie. It was veary colourfull, adding to the whole "trippiness" of the movie. In some scenes, the drawings were more realistic, and obviously took more time, the rest of it is more cartoony. But it just has a style of its own.
5/5
Story: The story is pretty wacky, its about the fictional village of Pepperland, which gets invaded by the "Blue Meanies", who make everything dull, boring, and of cource blue. The only hope lies with a sailor, a Yellow Submarine, and Sgt. Peppers lonely Hearts Club band AKA The Beatles. Their are a lot of memerable moments in this movie, all of them will be permently lodged into your brain...in a good way. Although the story is no Final Fantacy, its still good.
4/5
Music/audio: The music was just fantastic. Plenty of Beatles hits, including "Elenor Rigby","Lucy In The Sky With Diomonds", "When Im 64", "Nothing Man", and of course, "Yellow Submarine". If you love the Beatles music, than this is the movie for you.
5/5
Humor: The humor was pretty good. Just watching the group ramble about random things that are happening is just funny. Although you will spend time laughing at the ridiculessness of the soroundings, you can tell that whoever made this was tripping HARD on acid. But its the Beatles, what do you expect?
4/5
Overall: This is a great movie for any Beatles fan, but if you dont really like their music then you should stay away from this movie, because thats what this entire movie is about, THE BEATLES! Its a great movie and will always have its place in my heart.
Overall score: 9.5/10
Rent, buy,or avoid: If your a Beatles fan, BUY BUY BUY! If your not, you can just rent it just for the weirdness of the animation.
Pictures:
Blue Meanie Satisfied at what he's done
The Yellow Submarine near some clifs
The Beatles looking out the windows in the submarine
Im really not sure what to say about this, just some of the randomness you'll see in the movie
Which button should I press?
